Debi's Page

Hi, I am Debi. I have been at Arcadia Middle School for the last 4 years. It is a High School/Middle School library. Claudine and I have spent a lot of time updating  our collection and changing the layout of the library to make it more user friendly. We have also worked hard at designing a layout that makes our computer areas easy for classes to use. A lot of work but it has really paid off and we think it looks great. Before that I was a K-2 librarian at English Village. I began my career in Greece Central by opening West Ridge Elementary. What a wonderful opportunity to order a complete library from scratch! It was the first automated library in Greece. Seems like a lifetime ago. Two years later I ordered the collection for the Pinebrook library. It was easier the second time around. When Greece laid off half ot their librarians I found myself on special assignment at Arcadia Middle. I spent 5 years teaching a 6th grade Intro to Computers course and being the Tech support person in the building. It was a great job! I learned a lot. IBM had been generous with its network training while I was at West Ridge. After 5 years, I went to English Village to refresh my memories of a k-2 building. I loved it but was ready to come back and work with Middle Schoolers. You gotta love them! I also spent 5 years in East Rochester and 2 years in Tippecanoe County Schools in Indiana as a librarian prior to children. Both children are grown and married now. They both had a wedding in a six month time period. That was some year. I have one grandson named Logan (my son's). He is 22 months old and a bundle of energy as they all are. He will become a big brother in March. Derek, Sarah and Logan live in Columbus Ohio. My son went to Ohio State. My husband and joke about how embarassed we are for that as I graduated from Indiana University and he from Purdue. Oh well all in the Big Ten! Makes for interesting game days. Our daughter Shannon and Tom live in Rochester. She graduated from St John Fisher College and is now a at home mom to be. They are expecting their first child in January. They have a beautiful Siberian Huskey named Jessie. My husband Steve and I met in High School. I know that is a little scary! He works for Carestream Health which is who purchased the Kodak Health Group on May 1st. Yes you guessed it -- Kodak is what brought us to Rochester in the 1970's. I love to travel, but just do not have enough time. We took a family vacation to Hilton Head this August and it was great fun. This year will be spent helping with the new grandbabies.
