Way too much coffee.  But if it weren't for the coffee, I'd have no identifiable personality whatsoever.

Yup, it's true.  I'm a coffee addict.  But atleast I'm not afraid to admit it.  In fact, as a write this I am enjoying a nice warm brew...

I love randomness, so sharing "something random about myself" really could encompass this whole introduction.  I'll try to keep it simple though...

I do find it interesting however to see how many of us have entered "library land" by such a long and winding road--sounds a little bit like "six degrees of seperation".

I started my teaching career as a middle school science teacher in Liverpool, New York (long-term substitute for a maternity leave).  Immediately after that experience I enter graduate school (no, the middle schoolers didn't drive me out, I just wanted to continue my education!).  I went to an international teachers fair during graduate school and ended up accepting a position at The Columbus School in Medellin, Colombia, South America.  I was the Director of Technology/Science Teacher.  It was a wonderful experience.  I ended up working at the school for three years while having the opportunity to travel quite a bit (while picking up the Spanish language at the same time).  I returned to the states and took a high school science position at Penfield High School.  After working closely with our librarians I decided to go back to school to get my MLS at UB (I did this in the late nineties when the UB LIS School was in complete chaos).  After Nola Zeches retired I applied for her position.  Being a Librarian is a wonderful thing.  This past Spring I had the opportunity to go to the "Computers In Libraries" conference in Arlington, Virginia.  The focus of the conferance was on Library/Web 2.0 models--a terrific opportunity if you every have the chance.  In addition, I just recently completed my administrative certification (I'm not sure about heading over to the dark side yet, but I found the experience interesting).  To help make life more exciting I teach driver education after school--no grey hair YET! (that will happen I imagine when my own kid starts to drive!).

As for the rest of my life, I met my partner while in Colombia, S. Am. (she used to be a professor and Architect) who now is a technology teacher at Brighton High School.  We have an 11 year old son (Marco) who keeps us running (this summer he decided he wanted to learn how to surf, so off to the Outer Banks!).  Beyond that in my free time, I ski patrol at Bristol, love the mountains (I just spent six weeks in the Wind River range this summer with NOLS), traveling and reading.  Well, that's it for now with my "truthiness".       ;)      I'm really looking forward to working with all of you.

Well, I think it's about time for another cup...

Cheers,

Glen
