My story begins and circles back around to the same place.
I was born and raised in Darien then went away for college (SUNY New Paltz - women studies and art) and didn't move back until 12 years later. After college I worked for a couple of dot.com's, primarily doing photogarphy and design work, until the web 1.0 bubble burst. The second dot.com job moved me to NYC. Somehow I had to forsight to enroll in the MLS program at the Pratt Institute a month before the company I was working for went under. The MLS program led me to the Queens Borough Public Library where I worked for serveral years, as a young adult specialist, until I finished my degree and SLMS certification.
A week after turning in my last grad school paper, my husband and I traded in our MetroCards, loaded up a moving truck and headed back to Darien. We bought the house I grew up in from my mother. A week after that I found out I was pregnant.
I secured my first school library position in August 2005 at Alexander Central School where I still am today. I am a K-12 librarian split between two buildings (K-5 & 6-12). I have a great assistant that helps make this possible.
My daughter, Imogene (who doesn't have antlers), is three and loves to pretend she is a rock star. After she goes to bed, I like to knit, aspire to improve my sewing skills, and of course read.
I have to resort to a wedding photo for this page because I am usually behind the camera and it is hard to find a picture with me in it!
